Privacy

The short version

We keep only what we need to prove your picks. No ads, no tracking, no selling data. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.

What we collect

• If you sign in with Google: your Google account ID and email address. We use them only to sign you in; they're never shown on the site. Your public name is the scout name you choose.
• If you connect Last.fm, ListenBrainz or Spotify: your username there.
• Your picks: the artist, the listener count you declare, the screenshot you upload and the date.
• Only if you connected a listening service: when you make a pick, a snapshot of your recent listening for that artist. We read it only at that moment, to award the “Listening verified” badge.
• For Spotify only, the access keys Spotify gives us, stored encrypted. ListenBrainz tokens are checked once and never stored.

What's public

Verified picks are public: your scout name, the artist, the listener count, the date, the screenshot and, if you connected a listening service, a summary of the listening check. That's the point: anyone can see you were early. Picks still in review are visible only to you and the reviewers.

The Bitcoin seal

Each day we write a seal of the verified picks on Bitcoin. The seal is only a mathematical fingerprint: it contains no name, no username and no picture. If you delete your account, the fingerprint stays on Bitcoin but nothing links it to you anymore.

Who helps us run TrueOG

• Vercel (hosting and file storage) and Neon (database).
• Google, only to sign you in.
• Last.fm, ListenBrainz and Spotify, only if you connect them, to sign you in and check your listening.
• Deezer, only to search artists by name. Your data is not sent to them.
• OpenTimestamps calendars, which receive only the daily fingerprint.

Your rights

You can ask to see your data, correct it or delete your account and everything linked to it. Use the contact form and we'll handle it within 30 days. You can also disconnect a listening service from your Account page at any time.
